The world’s first virtual store has opened in Seoul, South Korea. It looks a lot like your average grocery store from afar, but upon further inspection you can see that there are no real items in the store – just life size images of them. In order to shop, customers must scan barcodes of products displayed using a special downloadable app.

The app allows customers to fill their bag with virtual goods, pay for them with a credit card, and will ensure your purchases get delivered to your home by day’s end. Pretty handy!

By now you guys should know that the government went haywire shutting a bunch of sites for copyright infringement. Is there more to come? Regardless to what side you are on it seems that the way things have gone on are no longer the norm and that Big Sis is on the hunt

.

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak.

ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags.

The sites are replaced with a note from the government: “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”

Apple Unveils New iPod Touch

September 1st, 2010

(NEWSER) – Apple announced an upgrade to its iPod Touch today, giving it some of the bells and whistles bestowed upon the iPhone 4. The new version will essentially be an “iPhone without a contract,” Steve Jobs boasted. So yes it’ll have dual front-and-back cameras, capable of shooting video in 720p, and yes, it’ll have the iPhone 4’s ultra-hi-res Retina screen. You’ll even be able to us those cameras to video chat with iPhone owners, Crunch Gear reports.

Unlike the iPhone, it has rounded edges, and it’s ever-so-slightly thinner. The price will range from $229 for the 8GB model to $399 for the 64GB version. The device is already up for preorder, and should begin shipping next week.

It puts the insignificance of our planet into perspective — a snapshot of earth taken 183 million kilometres away can be seen below, where we appear as nothing more than a glowing white blob! Freaky thinking about how small we really are as individuals isn’t it.

NASA’s orbiting Messenger spacecraft took the image while searching for vulcanoids — small rock like objects that scientists believe float in clusters between Mercury and the sun.

The smaller sphere shaped object next to the earth is our moon.

Messenger has not yet detected any vulcanoids and will only be able to search for them when its orbit drags it closer to the sun. As it travels through the solar system, the spacecraft will complete one fly-by of earth, two of Venus and three of Mercury. It will move into Mercury’s orbit in 2011.

Something I found on Wired.com

The internet is the greatest procrastination device ever invented. It possesses all the hypnotic power of TV, along with tower-defense games and free porn. Plus, if you use a computer on the job, going online will make you feel like you’re just about to get to work.

If you get up and turn on the TV, you’re basically admitting to yourself that you’re a lazy jerk with no sense of responsibility. Fire up that browser, however, and you’re just a couple clicks away from getting back to business, allowing you to check “one more thing” for upward of 12 hours. (more…)

From end zone to end zone, an NFL field is exactly 3,600 inches, and it’s easy enough for referees to spot a ball precisely when action stays within the bounds of play. But when players take the pigskin out of bounds, refs must watch where the 11-inch-long ball crossed the sideline and then approximate that spot 70 feet, 9 inches away, back near the middle of the field.

NFL brass thinks it can do better. (more…)
